Yes, Jon, I do know what you think :-) We are now inhereiting of almost two centuries of "industrialized hierarchy", and tools and processes more than stratified the way traditional hierarchy ought to operate, focusing more on the environment than on the core relationships.
Here is a striking example of a real "Enterprise 2.0", without tools or fancy environments: http://www.favi.com/ang/index.php Impressive lesson...

Furthermore, while bringing more agility, adoption of collaborative tools and platforms, whether used in the existing framework of business processes or not, allows for a new type of leadership, combining knowledge fostering with social connections facilitation. Managers will now have to catalyze groups and communities activity, involve them in decision-making as well as in maintaining their inner state of equilibrium, acting as the strange attractors of a complex internal ecosystem.

Je crois que tu sache ce que je pense, mais en cas non .. je suis d'accord avec ce constation. Catalyzing and coordinating as a core management role will, in an interconnected environment, lead to an eventual large-scale transformation of how we understand and use (traditional ) hierarchy.
